The Order of Doctors were set up by the government Giolitti, with the law establishing n.455 of 10 July 1910, after years of toil parliamentary and social pressures.  After the Fascist regime had eliminated them in March 1935, with a laconic article of law which transferred the functions and duties of the Syndicate fascist category, they were reconstituted by the Constituent with DLCPS 13 September 1946, n.233 whose implementing regulation was adopted with DPR n.221 of 5 April 1950. The Order of Doctors changed their legal name in 1985, becoming "Order of Province of Medical Surgeons and Dentists" following the enactment of the law on July 14 1985, n.409, which, by transposing and implementing the EC directives No 78/686 and n.78/687, on the establishment of a degree course in dentistry and dentures (DPR February 28 1980, n.135), established the profession of dentistry, creating a register of Dentists in the ' Order of Doctors.  In practice, it realized a system of coexistence in a single order of two professional Roll resulting in the establishment, within the Executive Council, the Commission members as doctors and surgeons of the Commission for all the subscribers' Dentists which register of bodies, with specific institutional. Order of Province of Medical Surgeons and Dentists is a public legal entity, with its own management and decision-making autonomy, under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and coordinated in its institutional activities by the Federation of National Order of Physicians and Surgeons of Dentists.
At the board of directors of the incumbent following powers:
Compile and maintain the professional members;
Ensure the preservation of dignity and independence of the Order;
Designate representatives of at commissions, institutions and organizations of a provincial or municipal;
Promote and encourage all initiatives aimed at facilitating cultural progress of members;
To contribute experience and knowledge to the authorities for study and solution of health problems provincial and local governments;
Exercise disciplinary powers over the Health Care registered as doctors and surgeons as a dentist, respectively by the Boards of Discipline medical and dental services;
Provide conciliation in disputes between health or between physicians and persons or entities for which the doctor has given her professional work, in relation to expenses and fees.
